Countdown to our conference

Beth Winkley

The past few weeks have passed by so quickly, mainly because there’s been so much on and it’s about to get even busier, as we put together the final touches for the WRAP Cymru Conference 2012. We’ve got a fantastic line-up of speakers – including Environment Minister John Griffiths, WRAP CEO Liz Goodwin, and representatives from a diverse range of Welsh businesses and I’m really looking forward to a stimulating day of debate and discussion. We’ll be sending out joining instructions soon, but if you haven’t registered yet you can do so here. Please be aware though that places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so you may be added to a reserve list if all the places have been allocated. We will do our best to accommodate as many people as possible, so fingers crossed we’ll see you there.

I had a brilliant night at the Made in Wales Awards on 18 October. WRAP Cymru sponsored the Green Manufacturer award and I presented the trophy to winning business G24 Innovations. WRAP Cymru’s Business and Markets team – including our new Business Account Managers Damian Walsh and Huw Lloyd – hosted a table. Thank you to all our guests for making it such an enjoyable night.

That week also saw the launch of our new Recycle on the Go grants and guidance. Businesses can receive consultancy support plus up to £50,000 towards the cost of introducing an out-of-home recycling service for their customers. There’s also free guidance materials available to download.

The grants have attracted quite a lot of attention in the trade and specialist media. Those of you who read Let’s Recycle may also have seen my opinion piece on why it’s so important to invest in reprocessing infrastructure. Talking of which – if you’re thinking of applying for capital funding under the ARID Large Scale Infrastructure Grant do remember that the deadline for applications for this funding round is Tuesday 4 December 2012 at 13:30.
