The case studies below describe how simple design changes and better customer information can achieve a net-positive result for businesses bottom-line.

Own-brand tumble dryer

Based on 100,000 unit sales per annum, and a reduction of 0.5% in returns under warranty, the savings were estimated to be:

~ £9,100 savings per annum

~ 20.9 tonnes of CO2e per annum

~ 7 tonnes of material per annum

Improvements Identified

During the product design review, the following key areas were identified as best practice: 

1.

Increase recycled content in polymers.

2.

Prevent vibration during use.

3.

Secure internal wiring and connectors.

4.

Maintain airflow through the drum.

5.

Ensure polymers are marked to facilitate segregation for recycling.
