Using recycled plastic, cutting costs, and boosting revenue – JC Moulding case study.

Summary

Reducing costs without compromising quality is a great business outcome. Factor in the chance to create new products and open new markets – all while reducing carbon footprint – and that is a best-case scenario for any company. JC Moulding opted for a 'circular economy' approach to their business and created new jobs, saved money and increased their use of recycled plastics. This case study highlights how, through work with recycled materials, re-use and re-manufacture, such an approach can succeed both commercially and environmentally. It also demonstrates how a well-devised and targeted grant can set positive change in motion.

Key Facts

Receiving financial support from the Welsh Government through WRAP Cymru's Circular Economy Fund enabled JC Moulding to incorporate more recycled content into their range of bespoke products, increase manufacturing capacity and tap into additional revenue streams.

Over the next three years this is expected to lead to:

  • 6 new jobs created
  • £168,000 cost savings
  • a substantial increase in revenue for the business
  • the use of 756 tonnes recycled PP and ABS plastics
  • 503 tonnes of CO2 savings
