Using 100% recycled plastic in challenging commercial times
Summary
Adopting a 'circular economy' approach to the running of a business – or even the creation of a single product line – can reap major environmental and commercial rewards.
Addis Housewares planned to expand their range of 100% recycled eco-friendly products, only for the economic uncertainty caused by the global pandemic to disrupt their strategy.
This case study highlights how a company committed to producing more environmentally-friendly goods can still remain true to that ethos despite unfavourable commercial conditions.
Key Facts
Receiving financial support from the Welsh Government through WRAP Cymru's Circular Economy Fund allowed Addis Housewares to expand their eco-friendly product range despite unfavourable commercial conditions.
As a result, the company:
- will increase the use of 315 tonnes of recycled polypropylene over 3 years
- is projected to save the equivalent of 182.7 tonnes of CO2 over a 3-year period
- has forecast a significant increase in revenue
