Swansea-based Techlan's business model demonstrates the circular economy in action in Wales.

The company successfully developed and patented a method for removing surface contamination from large reels of silicone release paper used in the manufacture of composites for the aerospace and wind energy sectors.

This high value paper was used just once and then landfilled, until Techlan devised a process to clean the paper on both sides, allowing it to be reused several times.

Techlan received support from WRAP Cymru through the Circular Economy Fund, a capital grant funded by the Welsh Government to increase the use of recycled material in products manufactured in Wales.

Funding was awarded for equipment to manufacture a new product, trademarked as 'Re-Liner' and increase their capacity to respond to the increasing demand for ecommerce packaging.
